Boron-polyphenol biostimulants: what the trials show

Combining boron with plant polyphenols is one of the more promising directions in our biostimulant research. Here is where the work stands and why it matters for crops under stress.

Why boron and polyphenols

Boron sits behind several processes that decide yield: cell-wall integrity, pollination and fruit set, and the movement of sugars within the plant. When boron runs short, those processes are the first to suffer.

Plant polyphenols act on a different front. They help the plant manage the oxidative stress that builds up under cold, salinity and drought. Pairing the two is an attempt to support structure and stress tolerance at the same time, rather than treating each in isolation.

What we are seeing

Within our TUBITAK-supported programme we are evaluating boron-polyphenol formulations on sensitive, high-value crops. Early observations point toward better establishment and improved tolerance when conditions turn difficult.

We are deliberately cautious with numbers at this stage. Results are being confirmed across more sites and seasons before we publish formal performance figures, so that any claim we make is one a distributor can stand behind.

What it means for growers

The aim is a practical, non-nutritional tool that complements a sound fertiliser programme rather than replacing it. Used at the right moments, it is intended to protect yield potential through stress windows.

If you run trials in your market and would like to collaborate on a protocol, we are happy to share material and design the evaluation together.
